Course Description: Ceramics is a one-half credit one semester course for grades 10-12. Art 1 is the prerequisite for this class with a "C" average or higher or teacher consent. Students will be introduced to the world of ceramic art with emphasis on different techniques, functions and form. Various processes will be used to create 3D artworks, including: throwing on a wheel, raku firing and hand building with emphasis on the techniques of slab, coil, carving and pinch. This course is recommended if a student plans to continue on to AP Art Portfolio.
